Sambisari Temple, Jogjakarta, Indonesia

LOCATION

Sambisari temple situated in the hamlet Sambisari, purwomartani village, Kalasan district, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta. Location Sambisari ± 13 km from the city center towards the east (street Jogja-Solo), in the village of Sorogenen turn north into the village street is quite wide, about 2.5 km to the village Sambisari.



LAYOUT HISTORY

History Sambisari establishment can not be known for certain in the absence of concrete evidence. To determine years of its establishment should be reviewed from several aspects. Sambisari an enshrinement group consisting of a main temple and three chapel in front of it. The main temple facing towards the West with size 13.65 mx 13.65 m and height of 7.5 m.


Inside the main temple, there is a phallus-yoni by yoni spout facing north. The temple also has several niche containing a statue. Northern niche containing a statue of Durga, the niche containing a statue Ganeca east, and south niche containing a statue of Agastya. On both sides of the entrance but there are also niche statue is gone


The overall Chapel in front of main tample are: ancillary middle-sized 4.9 mx 4.8 m, ancillary north and south each measuring 4.8 mx 4.8 m.


The third chapel has no body and roof, which is only ballustrade and there is a fence ledge
Sambisari temple complex as a whole is surrounded by a wall of white stone measuring 50 mx 48 m. On each side of the fence there is the entrance, but the north side of the door is closed. On the first page there are 8 pieces pseudo phallus which is located in the eight cardinal directions (4 pieces in front of each entrance and 4 pieces on each corner). On the outer side of the fence there is ± 8 m wide terrace with a stairway up on all four sides, there is also the second fence fence expected, but only now revealed some of the East side.


Another thing that is interesting from the point Sambisari central temple complex is located on the southern entrance stairs.
